JUST OUT OF CURIOSITY…

This is a great question! There are a few things that can make or break your pottery experience so we will just make a list here:
— Nooooooooooo long nails! Pottery becomes very difficult with small shovels attached to the end of each finger.
— Keep long hair tied back. We don’t want your beautiful locks going into the clay… or worse…. getting wrapped up in the wheel.. ouch!
— Closed toed shoes are preferred. Pottery and the tools used on it can be quite sharp.
— Dress to make a mess. The clay shouldn’t stain your clothing, however it will definitely get on you at your time in the studio.
— Parking on evenings and weekends can be tricky. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to buffer for finding and paying for parking.
— Bring a smile! We are so excited to have you in the studio! Yay!

4-6 weeks.
Completing a piece of pottery is long, intense, and involved process. After your session, there is still LOTS to do before your piece is considered complete and is ready for pick up. We make sure to dry your pieces completely, trim them, glaze them, and fire them twice up to about 2000 degrees F. This takes time. You will receive a text message when your pieces are ready for pick up.

Like stated above, ceramics is a long, intense, and involved process. It is also a very delicate art. Your pieces go through many stages of varying fragility in the 4-6 weeks they take to process. Sometimes, pieces are lost in the process due to cracking from drying or surface tension, to quite literally exploding in the kiln from uneven thickness. This is normal. Ask any potter about their prayers to the Kiln Gods before each firing. We take immense caution when handling each and every piece with care. Unfortunately, sometimes we are met with the inevitable crack or explosion. Due to food safety and sharpness, we cannot return these broken pieces to you. If you came away with one piece after your first clay experience, you’re ahead of the pack. Trust. Ceramics is a beautiful process and quite frankly, the greatest teacher of non-attachment.
